How can you download Xbox games faster?
You can make games download faster on your Xbox One in several ways, like downloading only one game at a time or rebooting your internet. Basically everyone you talk to has their own little ways to try and speed up games that are being downloaded.
People have also tried connecting your internet router and Xbox One with an ethernet cable for a faster connection. This and putting your device in sleep mode are the two ways many people say will save time.
The best way to download games faster is by simply closing out other games and apps. When these games are open it will take away from the amount of power your device can use to download a game.
The Xbox One conveniently lets you play other games or use apps while a game is downloading, but this sometimes results in the download taking more time than usual. This especially goes for other games that use the internet.
If you close out any other games and apps while your game is downloading, your Xbox One will run faster, and so will your download.
If you have an Ethernet cable, you don’t have to rely on Wi-Fi connections to improve your download speeds. Simply connect the Ethernet cable to your internet router and to your Xbox One. Once the Ethernet cable is connected, your internet connection will be stronger and your downloads should speed up considerably.
There’s one last solution for Xbox users who suffer from slow download speeds despite applying the fixes above. It involves canceling the software download or installation entirely, then restarting it. This is far less likely to work than the aforementioned fixes, but it’s worth trying if nothing else has worked.

Why are the game installs so slow on the Xbox One?
Gamers have been complaining about it and even Microsoft’s Exec Phil Spencer acknowledged that this was definitely an issue which they are working on to resolve as quickly as possible. No time frame for a fix has been provided by the company and so far, gamers are on their own to fix this minor issue on their consoles. Microsoft’s own support for Slow Games Install Page shows that for a 70GB download, and a slow 2Mbps Internet connection, it could take ~78 hours!
He explained that the Xbox One was designed with the Always-on internet connection in mind thus it has a couple of issues that will be fixed in future updates which includes this slow installation of optical disk based games. If you are also experiencing similar slow installation issue on your Xbox One then keep on reading this guide to learn an easy method of speeding up the installation process on your Xbox One.
As previously explained by Mr.Spencer himself, this issue has been caused because there are still some minor problems with the code in the Xbox One. We have noticed that when you pop in a disk in the console, it automatically starts installing the game.
When the game installation process is running, the console also starts downloading different patches and updates for the game at the same time. This happens when you are connected to Xbox Live and if the game being installed has downloadable patches and updates which most games do.
This means that the installation process becomes annoyingly longer due to larger updates being downloaded and if you have an average internet connection with moderate download speeds, it will take even longer. This is the only reason why all the optical disk based games on Xbox One install like their digital counterparts. I have a moderate 8Mbps Internet connection and it took me more than 3 hours to install a game with updates. However, after disconnecting the console from Xbox Live the game only took 15-20 minutes for installation.
How Do I Stop My Xbox One From Turning Off?
Now you might find your Xbox One turning off randomly and you don’t understand why. Perhaps your Xbox One is set off to turn off after a period of inactivity. I will show you how to change this.
- Press the Menu button of the controller and go to settings
- From settings go to > Power & startup > Turn off after
- Select from the options 1 hour of inactivity, 6 hours of inactivity, or Don’t turn off automatically.
Now your Xbox will not randomly turn off! However, I believe after 1 hour off inactivity is a good option to have to automatically turn off, because any more and you will be wasting a lot of energy as you’re not using your Xbox One and it’s still on.
